Background Jeff Robinson has more than 35 years of direct hurricane shutter/hurricane protection industry experience. He began working full time in the hurricane protection industry in 1973 as a third generation family member. His career started at entry level, working up from the field, to shop production, to sales and eventually on to a management role. Jeff has earned a reputation as a noted industry expert on the production side, also in shutter systems design and is holder of several U.S. Patents for Accordion Shutter Design Elements. Jeff Robinson Shutter Company, a forerunner to HPI with the objective of serving the Institutional/Governmental marketplace, signed its first large contract, Baptist Hospital of Miami ($ 3.3 Million), in 1996. In order to effectively execute the field operations involved in the project, Jeff joint ventured with a large general contractor, Miller & Solomon General Contractors, Inc. (MSGCI). This began the working relationship with Larry. Larry was President of MSGCI. They worked together as the "project team" on approximately $7 Million worth of successful mitigation work for Baptist, Mercy and South Miami Hospitals.
In recent years, Jeff and company have been leaders in many innovations and solutions for hurricane mitigation of critical facilities and other commercial properties. HPI is particularly proud to be a leader in developing solutions for "retrofitting" existing, occupied buildings with new impact glass systems able to withstand Category 5 hurricanes.
